Are you interested in pursuing a career in engineering from the premier engineering colleges in India? Then you will have to appear for the JEE Main entrance examination which is conducted by CBSE. Most of the top-notch engineering colleges in India prefer candidates who have secured good ranks in JEE Main.
If you have not been able to secure good JEE Mains rank in 2017 and you are planning to give the test once again next year; then you should know the criteria required for JEE Main 2018 before filling up the form:
- The class 12 marks for merit calculation will not be considered.
- In order to qualify for IIT, NIT and CFIT, the candidate should get at least 75% marks in 10+2 exam and for reserved category, it is 65%. Or else the candidate should be among the top 20 percentile.
- In order to appear for JEE Main 2018, the candidate should be born after 1st October 1993; however, for reserved categories, there is a relaxation of 5 years
- The core subjects in 10+2 should be mathematics, physics and chemistry.
- Candidates will be able to get 3 chances for clearing JEE Main and 2 chances for clearing JEE Advanced in consecutive years.
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 in the year 2015 or 2016 or are appearing for the exam in 2018 can only appear for the exam
If you are interested in applying for JEE Main 2018 you can do it only through online mode from the official website. From 1st week of December 2017, the application forms will be available. The application fee can be paid either online or offline and is non-refundable.
About Cut-Off marks for JEE Main 2018:
- The cutoffs will vary from college to college as well as the courses.
- Only after the results are announced the cutoffs for the year 2018 will be available.
Remember that in order to get admission in the best colleges of India, the candidate should score the minimum cut-off marks. Several factors play an important role in deciding the cut-off marks such as difficulty level of examination, the number of candidates etc.
